Last Years Season Gives Us Hope

A year ago yesterday, Sheffield United clinched a spot for a promotion to the big show. After 6 years in lower leagues, the blades were finally returning to the Premier league. Finishing second in the league table with 89 points, the lads earned their promotion after just two years in the second division.

Looking back at the memories, the pure joy that flowed through the fans, the players, and everyone in sight is contagious. It make’s you think of more times like this, and makes you hopeful for opportunities like this in the future.

Watching the celebrations, it gives you hope that the league will return, if it’s medically safe, so that they Blades can continue their magical season that they were having.

In a recent interview with George Baldock, the Blade’s wing back, he described how the team was just as eager as we are to return to the pitch. “If we can get going again, the boys will be firing on all cylinders to keep proving people wrong and push on” Baldock told Sheffield United’s website. The opportunities for success that Sheffield has in front of them is rare, and they want to capitalize on that “We’re still fighting on two fronts and it’s been brilliant. We’re in a position which nobody thought we would be and we just want to get back out there and continue what we were doing” Baldock added in the same interview.

Although we are unsure of the future, and as of today, the German Bundesliga has announced it will restart, we are unsure of when the Premier league will restart. They can guess but we don’t know for sure. And even though we know it’s a long shot, a season like this one gives small town fans like us hope. Hope for the future, and hope that the big names won’t always dominate the scene. Although Liverpool was essential unbeatable this year, a lot can change in a year. And maybe, just maybe, we can really make a run for the title next year.
