Now, back to what’s really important in this world, judging jerseys to pass the time while there is no real sports. Just like last time, we’re going to start from the top left, and work our way down, then up and over, then back down.
To remind you, this is the bracket that was created by Sheffield United’s social media, and we are working off of this bracket. To start, we have the match-up between the 92/94 home jersey vs. the 91/93 away jersey. The classic red stripes on the 92 jersey are a favorite, but I do feel as if there aren’t enough simple jerseys out there which is why I really like the 91 jersey. Its a classic of all white with a red color and when people might not think it’s very distinguishable, it’s almost like reverse psychology. There are so many red and white stripes that I feel like it gets confusing. So the 91 away’s win this round.

In the next round, we have the 02/04 home jersey’s against the 17/18 home jerseys. I didn’t love the 02 jerseys to start with, I just liked them slightly more than the match-up it had last week. I also really like the black sleeves on the 17/18 jersey, plus it was their first season back in the championship league, league 2, in 6 years. It’s not really a competition, the black and red and white looks much better than just the red and white.

Heading over to the top right of the bracket, we have a matchup to the 94/95 home jersey versus then 19/20 home jerseys. Another match-up of red stripped jerseys, which again, is pretty redundant. I like the look of the newer jersey better, I’m just going to be honest. In other jerseys I liked the black in there but because the 19/20 jersey was the one i’ve watched the past year and come to root for, I have to lean towards that one. The small stripes don’t appeal to me that much either, just looks tacky and almost fake. I think the 94/95 jersey is a classic and I appreciate the crest with the insignia, but I just like the modern look too much. I also like the sponsorship, adds to the pride of the home grown team the Blades have put together.

Now moving on to the bottom right, the 93/95 is going to be lucky here against the 96/97. The reason I say this is because I have already advanced three red and white stripped jerseys! I also know that I didn’t like teams not wearing their own colors, but the dark blue and baby blue that the designers used works really well together. As a jersey, I like it a whole lot more then the 96/97. I don’t love that it’s for a red and white team, but it’s certainly a very nice looking jersey, which is why it’s taking this round.

So, in part 3 of the jersey showdown, the 92/94 home will go head to head with the 17/18 home kit, and the 19/20 home kit will be facing the 93/95 away kit. A winner will be named as the best kit of Sheffield United’s history. Or at least of what the bracket that they created gave us.
