In breaking news, I will have to interrupt this jersey showdown the century to talk about what’s actually important in life. The Premier League has released what they are dubbing project restart. This is self-explanatory in the name, but the premier league is trying to restart. They are making a layout with a bunch of rules and different guidelines that they will have to follow, as well as needing to follow the health professional guidelines.

The most interesting part that I am extremely interested in is that they are trying to play 92 matches in 6 weeks. This would finish off the season and officially crown a champion. Officials also said that they would need to play in approved stadiums, so teams would play in the same stadiums and they would just rotate. They are describing it almost like a festival of football. It really reminds me of a high school summer tournament where everyone is playing games on the same field next to each other. Where the lines were spray-painted at the beginning of the weekend but after having 10 games a day on the same field, the lines are barely visible anymore.
This news was released at the same time of the French league canceling their season for good. The Netherlands and Belgium has also canceled their seasons for good. But Korea and Germany have both shown interest and made plans to reopen their season. It’s also interesting to see the change in the British culture that has been happening in the past few months. With the break out of Covid-19, the Brits didn’t really do anything. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that going into lockdown would be bad for the country and staying open would make them stronger. The ole’ expose yourself to the virus to make your body fight it off and become immune. The only problem with that is that it doesn’t work for everyone and clearly didn’t work for Johnson who was in the ICU for a few days with Covid-19.
After that stage, the Brits went into a strict lockdown and went a complete 180 to what they were doing before. And now, it seems they are trying to open everything up again. It’s almost like a pendulum and that’s whats deciding the policy. The main focus has to be player and personal safety in this situation, and I hope that they are truly trying to protect these people.
Some reports say that there will be a minimum of 300 people in the stadium, players, coaches and staff, and press. This is more people than have been in one place for months, other than the protests in America. Some teams have already started training back up, like Arsenal, Tottenham, and West Ham, but under strict social distancing guidelines. This can’t be the case if they are playing a real match.
I’m really not sure if this is all feasible, or if they are just saying these things in order to keep the spirits of the people up. Having something to look forward to is always healthy, and in this case, a lot of people would love to have sports back. But for the safety of the players and all who are involved, I’m not sure if this is actually the right decision. I believe clubs should be using their wealth and influence to do more of this:
I mean, I’m caught in the middle of this. I would love to have sports return, but I really believe that it’s going to get worse, in the fall and that people are really jumping the gun. We’ll see what they do, and if it is just a plot to keep the nations hopes up.
