What’s to come?

Well, everything has stopped. With the Corona Virus outbreak (or COVID-19, whichever one you prefer) every game, every team, every league, and every sport has been canceled or postponed for the time being. And this is worldwide too.

So all of my favorite sports, Lacrosse, Baseball, Basketball, and of course footy, have been postponed or canceled. The world is in a desperate state right now, my father started to look up literally any live sporting event and couldn’t find one. I told him about Australian leagues still playing at the time, but he wasn’t desperate enough to stay up all night to watch it. That might’ve changed now.

But with all this, comes the premature and abrupt stop to the premier league season. The Blades haven’t played a match since March 7th, luckily ending on a one-nill victory, and not a bloody tie. But this makes for an interesting event to come.

Of course, with everything stopped, season’s will be cut short. Not entirely sure what the plan is for the premier league, but i’m guessing that most of the games missed, if not all of them, will not be made up in the future.

Currently, the lads from Sheffield are sitting in 7th place in the table, and only two points away from qualifying for the Champions league. The Blades have also played one less match than everyone above them except for Manchester City. Now I know we have talked about this before, but with the lack of upcoming games, you must wonder what the league is going to do and how Sheffield is going to respond.

Without practice day in and day out, who is going to step up and show that they have been working on their game during this hiatus. It’s really going to show who wants it the most. And this applies league-wide, not just for the Blades. A post on the Sheffield United Instagram shows how much our skipper is dedicated, and why we love the team in the first place:

Although funny, it really does shine a light on the guys in Red in White, and why blades fanatics love Billy Sharp.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the table shakes out and what each team does in their final push to the top. Although it’s secured for Liverpool already. When the League does return, there will be a lot of emotions on and off the pitch.
